Obituary for Rene Alejandro Granillo Sr.

Rene Alejandro Granillo, Sr., 42 years of age, of Pampa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, in Pampa. He was born on March 27, 1979, to Ruben and Lourdes Granillo in Chihuahua, Mexico.

While still a young boy, the family relocated to Pampa from Mexico and Rene had been a resident since. He married Mayra Avila on December 26, 2002, and thus began his family whom he loved very much. Rene was an amazing chef, certainly knew how to have a good time (usually as the life of the party), and he loved loud music. Deemed “The Plaza DJ”, he was well known in the bar for his playlists, grabbing the remote from behind the bar and cranking up the tunes! No one could compare to his upbeat and bubbly personality. He wasn’t afraid of what others may think about him and he could talk more trash than anyone, but he always kept it real and honest. Rene was a mentor to many, accepting of anyone, was able to see the good in any given situation or person, and wanted nothing more than for others to be happy.

Family and friends are going to miss his contagious laugh and seeing him wearing all his favorite football gear supporting the 49ers! Rene, you are gone but never forgotten!

Rene was preceded in death by his baby brother, Rolando Granillo.

Those left to reminisce about Rene’s free spirit and one-of-a-kind personality are his wife of 19 years, Mayra Avila Granillo of Pampa; his three children, Rene Granillo, Jr, Myah-Lucero Granillo and Jose Rolando Granillo whose anticipated arrival is not far away; parents; brother, Ruben Aaron Granillo and wife Yomara; sister, Erica Granillo and six nephews, Elijah, Ervin, Eryx, Anthony, Zaydriel and Zalen all of Pampa as well as many friends whom he loved as family.

Celebration of Life Funeral Liturgy will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Reverend Luis Lopez as Celebrant. Those honoring Rene as pallbearers are Angel Araiza, Frank Gonzales, Govanni Aguirre, Humberto Gonzales, Jose Aguirre, Julian Rodriguez, Julian Salazar and Rodolfo Granillo. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery immediately following. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should donations be a preference, the family asks they be made to Winegeart Funeral Home to aid in unexpected funeral expenses.
