Obituary for Pauline Denton (Tucker)

Pauline Denton, 84, of Pampa, passed away Friday, October 29, 2021, in Pampa. She was born on September 5, 1937, to William and May Tucker in Spencerville, Oklahoma.

Pauline was raised in and around the Wellington area and in 1955, she married her soulmate and “other” half, Elvis Gene Denton. Throughout their years of marriage, they encountered many adventures and owning three restaurants at one time in Big Spring was certainly one of them. Following the restaurant business, she found solace working in her yard and gardens. She loved working in the dirt and growing beautiful flowers. Pauline also enjoyed attending the horse races, but nothing beat the solitude and quietness of fishing…even when the fish weren’t biting, she wouldn’t give up on the big one! Never one to speak a harsh word, Pauline always had a very pleasant disposition, was very content, happy and her laugh was contagious. Her outgoing personality and love of caring for others was certainly evident through her work as an in-home caregiving. Her love and compassion will be greatly missed by so many who knew and loved her.

Those who preceded her in death are her husband, Elvis Gene Denton; parents; brother, Junior Tucker; sisters, Hazel Scott, Perline Hudson, Ruby Little; daughters, Theresa Gordzelic, Cathey Maxwell; grandson, Callen Garner and daughter-in-law, Margarita MeLinda Denton.

Those who remain to carry on her memories are her son, Jimmie Denton of Pampa; three daughters, Debra Holly of Amarillo, Sandra Kay Bowen of Pampa, JoAnn Troutman and husband J.R. of Wellington, KS; 11 grandchildren, Wesley Franklin, David Sean Conant, Misty Poajos, Cheri Phan, Robbie Wilson, Donnie Wilson, Cosy Huff, Jamie Dunlap, Natalie Dodd, Jimmie Lee Ray Denton, and Toni Denton.

Celebration of Life Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 5, 2021, at North Fairview Cemetery, 16050 FM 338, Wellington, Texas. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
