Obituary for Mickey D Karr

Mickey Dean Karr, 76 of Pampa, Texas, went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on June 8, 2022. He was born to Eldon and Agnes (Judd) Karr on November 12, 1945 in Borger, Texas.

Mickey has been a lifelong rancher and cowboy, working on multiple ranches and in about any area ranch life would have. Some of his favorite places to work over the years were Smith Cattle Company of Amarillo, Texas where he did spring branding, dragging calves, roping, whether outside doctoring cattle or in the arena, and being on horseback. When younger, he really enjoyed breaking and training horses. He retired 12 years ago and worked part-time for Chisum Ranches in Pampa, Texas thereafter, until he could no longer saddle a horse or do what he loved.

His favorite past-times included attending and competing in ranch rodeos, team roping, rodeos, dancing, singing a jig that he would come up with off the top of his head and being horseback. He liked to drink cold beer with friends and have long conversations but it didn’t hurt his feelings any to talk to total strangers, before long they would no longer be strangers. No matter where they went, his family would tell you he always knew someone, whether it was a lifetime friend he went to grade school with or someone he worked with, there was always someone to talk to. He was known for his honesty and friendliness every where he went.

He married Janet Faulkner in Canadian, Texas on September 24, 1976.
