Obituary for Kathleen Ann "Kathy" Scherer (Christopher)
Kathleen Ann “Kathy” Scherer of Pampa, Texas passed away at the age of 79 at Pampa Regional Medical Center on Friday, January 6, 2023. She entered this life on August 18, 1943 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Joseph and Mariam Christopher.
Being raised in Pittsfield, Kathleen graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1961. With a strong urge to help others and selflessly give of her time, she enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 serving as a nurse until her honorable discharge in 1969. It was while enlisted that she met a handsome gentleman from New York that was serving in special forces and on September 4, 1968, they were married. Although her tenure with the Army had ended, William’s service continued until his retirement in 1981. Together with their son, Jeffrey, they traveled all over as the military stationed them in various places until eventually settling in Pampa in 2007 following a stint in Angleton, Texas.
When given the chance, Kathleen loved to curl up with a romance or suspense novel and read or simply watch her favorite gameshows such as Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. She took much joy and pride in being a housewife and mom. Taking on the protector roll of her family, she wouldn’t stand for any cross words about her boys and was always at attention to defend them.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
She leaves behind her two most cherished loves, her husband of 54 years, William Joseph Scherer and only child, Jeffrey Scherer both of Pampa.
Honoring her wishes, the family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home. No services will be held.
