Obituary for Joseph Alan "Alan" Walsh

Joseph Alan Walsh, 65 years of age, of Lefors, Texas, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at his home. Alan was born the oldest of four boys on November 26, 1957, in Amarillo, Texas to Joseph Edward and Rheta Kay Walsh.

Blessed to have the ability to read and recall information with ease, Alan rarely cracked a book and homework was an oddity as he not only graduated from Amarillo High School, but also in receiving both his bachelor’s degree and his Master of Engineering from Texas Tech resulting in him being a professional engineer in multiple states.

As a youngster, Alan worked for his grandfather at Walsh Food Service for many years. When not at school or working, he and his brothers could be found tinkering with cars. He also enjoyed participating in shot put, wrestling and even held the weightlifting record at Amarillo High for quite some time. Once he became a father, he would take the girls on outings to play putt putt golf or bowling.

Although Alan didn’t care for manual labor, he was an amazing pen pusher and could accomplish much sitting behind his computer. No recipes were needed, he simply had the knack for putting a wonderful meal together and was excellent at grilling - especially steaks! Alan’s dry sense of humor and wit could be hard to understand, but none the less, he loved to joke around.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Stacey Stubbs; a brother-in-law, Scott Stubbs; sister-in-law, Lola Kaye Stubbs and a nephew, Jarod Barrett.

Those who are left to remember him are his wife of 15 years, Linda Walsh of Lefors; two daughters, Erin Lea Walsh and Brenda Kay Walsh both of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Elisha Lane of Fort Worth; three brothers, Charles Randal “Randy” Walsh and wife Brenda of Canyon, Daniel Rockston “Rocky” Walsh and wife Trish of Amarillo, Shannon Neil Walsh and wife Susan of Canyon; four grandchildren, Ashton Steele, Vanessa Garcia, Skyler Walsh and Corban Kemp; father-in-law, Eugene Stubbs of Pampa; sister-in-law, Gail Keating and husband Glenn of Pampa and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 3:00, Monday, February 20, 2023, in the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Brother Jim Sinyard officiating. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

If memorials are a preference, the family suggests they be made to The Carpenter’s Church, 639 Barnes Street, Pampa, TX 79065 in honor of Alan.
