Obituary for Jose Luis "El Arracada" Estrada

Jose Luis “El Arracada” Estrada, 73 years old, of Pampa, Texas, Passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Pampa Regional Medical Center in Pampa. He was born on January 30, 1949, to Cruz and Jesus Estrada in Mexico.

As a young boy, Jose found his passion for baking and quickly learned how to sell his homemade goods to earn a profit as well as continue doing what he loved most. He moved from Mexico to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and remained there the majority of his life. Once there, he found a job working as the dishwasher at Tomasita’s restaurant and enjoyed the food industry so much, he stuck with it. He eventually worked up to cook and then kitchen manager. He remained at Tomasita’s for many years until moving to Pampa about three years ago.

Naturally quite humorous, he loved to make others laugh. Although he never had children of his own, he was very much a family man and loved his nieces and nephews as they were his own. Afraid of missing a special memory, he always toted his video camera with him and recorded the kids at every opportunity. When Jose wasn’t playing cards and dominos at family get-togethers, he could probably be found at his favorite casino trying his luck.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those we remain to cherish his memories are three brothers, Candelario Estrada, Francisco Estrada, Guillermo Estrada and wife Ana; two sisters, Raquel Estrada, Cruz Estrada and husband Adrian all of Mexico. He also had numerous nieces and nephews whom he claimed as his own.

Jose will be available to pay respects from 9am until 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday, July 6th and 7th at Winegeart Funeral Home, 303 N. Frost Street. Services will be held at a later date in Chihuahua, Mexico so he can be laid to rest with his family. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home as well as Funerales Miranda in Chihuahua.
