Obituary for Jodi Michelle Estep (Hinds)

Jodi Michelle Estep, a lifelong resident of Pampa, Texas, departed this life too soon at the age of 51, while asleep at her home on Sunday, May 7, 2023. She was born on March 13, 1971, in Pampa to Eugene and Karen Sue Hinds.

As a lifelong resident of Pampa, Jodi attended Pampa schools, but received the majority of her guidance and knowledge by being hands-on helping the family in what began as the Black Gold, then Granny’s and eventually North 40 Settler’s restaurant. She was so grounded in the culture that she was capable of wearing many hats to pitch in wherever needed. As an entrepreneur, she learned from the ground up and knew every aspect of how the restaurant ran and wasn’t afraid to tackle any obstacle in her way to succeed.

When not at the restaurant, Jodi was found on her Harley enjoying the freedom of the ride. She was a relatively laid-back soul and rolled with the punches, but she definitely had her wild side as well. One to have a heart of gold and the size of Texas, she and Randy founded the Pampa chapter of BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) and although it’s no longer an open chapter in our area, it remained close to her heart.

Jodi was a private person and typically remained to herself. Even through her illness, she never complained and didn’t want to impose on anyone else, as they had enough to worry about without worrying about her too. In the restaurant, however, her presence was known! She gave everyone nicknames and you better believe, if she was picked on, she dished it right back out – and ended it with a huge hug.

Those who greeted her in Heaven were her dad, Eugene Hinds; a sister, Jeena Jones; grandparents, Orville and Juanita Biggs and Manuel and Fannie Hinds and a niece, Tiffeni Martinez.

Those whom she left to carry on her legacy and to cherish her many fond memories are her mother, Sue “Granny” Hinds of Pampa; three sons, Zackery Estep, Nathan Estep both of Pampa, Dillon Estep of Amarillo; a sister, Kelsi Hinds of Pampa; her ex-husband and close friend, Randy Estep of Fort Smith, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Gary Jones of Pampa; nephews, Cody Jones and Andrew Martinez both of Pampa; a great-nephew, Jake Martinez also of Pampa and a mass amount of friends she referred to as her family. She also leaves her beloved and extremely spoiled hairless cat, Hollywood.

Those who would like to pay their respects and sign the guestbook may do so at Winegeart Funeral Home, 300 W. Browning Avenue beginning Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 8pm, Wednesday from 9am to 8pm and again Thursday from 9am to 8pm.

Celebration of Life Graveside Service is scheduled for Friday, May 12, 2023, at 2:00pm in the Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Brother Jim Sinyard officiating. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should donations be preferred, the family suggests they be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 1535 West Loop S, Houston, Texas 77027 in memory of Jodi.
