Obituary for Jerry Leland Lumpkin

Jerry Leland Lumpkin, 72 years old, of Pampa, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 26, 2021, in Pampa. He was born on March 14, 1949, in Amherst, Texas to Virgil and Lena Lumpkin.
After graduating high school, Jerry enlisted into the United States Marine Corp and proudly served his beloved country for a total of 8 years. Following his tenure in the Marines, he dedicated 30 years to Campbell’s Soup Company where he retired as head electrician on the graveyard shift. On October 21, 1985, Jerry married Glenda Byrd in Sacramento, California and shortly after his retirement, they moved “back home” to Texas. Having been on graveyards for so many years, he never could break the habit of staying awake all night, so he drank sweet tea, ate Cheetos, and watched his favorite old westerns. Jerry was an avid collector various types of trinkets; however, he had several extensive collections including coins, zippo lighters, dominos, Campbell’s Soup memorabilia and his beloved Marines treasures. Nothing made him prouder than being a Texan and a Marine! He will be greatly missed.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Larry Lumpkin and an infant sister, Terry Lumpkin as well as his favorite old dog, George.
He leaves to remember and cherish his happy go-lucky personality, his wife, Glenda Lumpkin of Pampa; sister, Sherry Gee of Pampa; step grandchildren, Nicole Herrmann and Anthony Joseph “AJ” Herrmann; nieces, Angie Denton and husband Daryl of Alvord, TX, Melissa Harris and husband Scott of Pampa, Michelle Garner and husband Wade of Wheeler; nephew, Waide Lumpkin and wife Alicia of Pampa; great niece, Cassandra Perryman and husband Tyler of Borger; great nephews, Stephen Denton of Amarillo, Matthew Denton of Tyler; three great-great nieces and his three dogs, Oso, Linus and Boots.
