Obituary for General Lee Wood

General Lee Wood, 71, of Claude, Texas, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023. He was born on May 28, 1951 in Petersburg, Texas to Walter and Virgie Wood.

Mr. Lee was raised in Lubbock and attended schools there. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. On February 23, 1979, he and Debbie Lewallen began their lives together as husband and wife. Although he had worked in various capacities throughout his life, Lee retired as a truck driver after several years on the road.

Following retirement, Lee enjoyed being able to spend time outdoors, playing with his pets and helping others when needed. Seeking smiles on faces, he had a plethora of jokes he freely shared to help spread joy and happiness; however, he received his innermost happiness when he was with his family. They were his pride and joy and he strived to share as much with them as he could.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Gladys, Tommie, Margaret, and Harvey “Butch”.

He has left to carry on his memories four children, Jody Wood of Lubbock, Christopher Combs of Lubbock, Misty Kotara and husband Michael Waggoner of Shallowater, TX and Jaime Huddleston and husband Lute of Giddings, TX; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren as well as a host of extended family members.

No services are scheduled. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
