Obituary for Ewan Philip Waterson

Ewan Philip Waterson, 44 years of age, of Pampa, quietly left this life with his devoted wife at his side, in the morning hours of Wednesday, April 28, 2021 in Pampa. He was born on April 26, 1977 to Athol and Margaret Waterson in Dundee, South Africa.

Blessed with an extraordinary talent and a fierce love for music, Ewan could play almost every instrument he picked up and his voice was just as spectacular. He attended the renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir School and was fortunate enough to tour with them, then later continued as a part of the “Old Boys Association”.

Ewan, being notoriously slow in declaring his intentions, prompted Cara, his one true love, to propose to him while he lay in a hospital bed in the ICU unit. While still beaming with excitement of the engagement, they were given the surreal news of his test results…Ewan was suffering from brain cancer. Deciding to live life to the fullest in the time God allowed, Cara and Ewan were married on September 1, 2008. In those twelve years they celebrated love, children and cherished every moment of a life well lived. Ewan worked as a project manager for Mint until medically retiring in 2009. His keen ear for music allowed him to tune pianos until the effects of the tumors impeded on his ability. In 2011, the family moved to Pampa from Johannesburg, South Africa. Once here, he joined the Singing Men of Texas and toured with them as well.

His love for his family was unmatched. He worshipped his wife, Cara and was an amazingly dedicated father to their three children Jessca, Carmen and James. The family was inseparable. Ewan’s presence lit up a room. His charismatic, funny, and sweet personality drew others into his circle, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Ewan was preceded in death by his father Athol Waterson.

He leaves behind his wife Cara and three children, Jessca Ann, Carmen Alegra, and James Collin all of the home; his mother, Margaret Waterson; a brother, Stephen Waterson both of South Africa and mother-in-law, Karin Ann Smith of Pampa.

No celebration services are scheduled. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their precious loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
