Obituary for Debra Jean Hill (Powers)

Debra Jean Hill, 58 years of age, of Pampa, Texas, awoke in glorious triumph gazing at her Heavenly Father’s face Wednesday, November 24, 2021, following surgery at BSA Hospital in Amarillo. She was born on December 26, 1962, in Portland, Oregon to Charles and Christina Powers.

Debra had been a Pampa resident since moving here in 1989 from Perryton. Following her move and settling into her new life, Debra found her niche as the House Director/Parent at the Hope House and Pregnancy Center where she was able to care and minister to innumerable persons in need until her retirement. She had an uncanny connection to God which allowed her faith to be unwavering no matter the circumstance. Her love of God and need to serve others touched a multitude of people and even the aura she carried about her spread smiles anywhere she ventured.

Although Jesus was the top priority in her life, family followed close in line and as she was one of the most caring souls ever met, she wanted to make sure her family was prepared for all of life’s twists and turns and had a special knack of making outsiders feel a part of her family no matter the situation. Never afraid of hard work, she always did for herself and didn’t feel the need to rely on a man. She enjoyed working with her hands, allowing her creative intuitions to become works of beauty.

On occasion, she thoroughly enjoyed a good steak, dining out, and an ice cream cone. She loved her two dogs, Puppers and Scruffy, sunflowers and the color white because it symbolized purity. God definitely broke the mold after He made her – she was like a Tasmanian Angel driving 35 with a rocket inside! Her love, laughter, and ease of taking the reigns of any situation will be missed by so very many whose lives she has touched.

She was greeted with open arms at Heaven’s gates by her parents as well as other extended family members.

Those that Debra has worked so diligently preparing to follow in her footsteps and embrace precious memories are three children, Erika Ruiz and husband Anthony, Niki Poland and husband Zac Hampton all of Pampa, Shaun Overton and wife Norma of Trenton, Missouri; best friend and forever soulmate, Melford Hanks of Pampa; siblings, Richard Powers of Trenton, Missouri, Ricky Powers and wife Mary Jo of Enid, Oklahoma, Ginny Garrison of Kerrville, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jace Ruiz, Niles Hampton, Milo Hampton, Gabrielle Overton, Arianna Overton, Alaina Overton, Aidan Overton; three great-grandchildren, Mayson Overton, Carter Overton and Grayson Overton.

Celebration of Life Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Trinity Fellowship Church, 2225 North Hobart Street, Pampa, Texas with Pastor Mike Borger officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should donations in honor of Debra be a preference, the family suggests they be made to Lighthouse Recovery, 304 N. West Street, Pampa, Texas 79065; Pregnancy Support Center of Pampa, 104 E. Francis Ave, Pampa, Texas, 79065 or The Harvest House, 736 S. Cuyler, Pampa, Texas 79065.
