Obituary for Debora Fay Parks

Debora Fay Parks, 63, of Borger, Texas, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas. She was born on September 18, 1958, to Raymond and Barbara Parks in Clare, Michigan.

While only three years of age, Debora contracted Scarlet Fever which ultimately changed her life forever. Unfortunately, the fever damaged her eardrums to the point of complete deafness, leaving her mute as well and even affecting her eyesight to the point of being legally blind. Being an overcomer, she graduated high school and attended the Michigan State School for the Deaf and Blind then on to receive three college credits in Braille. While continuing to live her life to the fullest extent and not allowing her disabilities to “handicap” her, she loved to go swimming, sledding on old car hoods behind her dad’s pickup, traveling, dancing and even learned to crochet and knit.

Debora definitely had a sense of humor, could tell great jokes and even with the odds stacked against her, she always maintained a positive attitude. She wholeheartedly loved her nieces and nephews and enjoyed playing with them. She was the cool aunt that could keep secrets! One to take care of her siblings, she took on the roll of protector and always watched over her family. Her love, loyalty and laughter will be missed by all who knew her.

Those who preceded her in death are her parents, two brothers, Mark Parks and Bart Parks; a sister, Kathleen Parks; niece Ahava Parks and a nephew, Cade Parks.

She leaves behind to cherish her feisty yet loving personality a brother, Scott Parks of Pampa; sisters, Michelle Cole of Borger, Valerie Peterson of Michigan; 14 nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children, Kristina Preston, Nikki Parks, Kelly Trusty all of Pampa, Amanda Mears of Elk City, OK, Brandy Parks of Minnesota, Misty Cole, Jeff Cole, Christopher Mobley, Chad Mobley, Barbara Grunner, Eric Grunner all of Coldwater, MI, Suzanne Groff of Burr Oak, MI, Kayce Jones of Sturgis, MI, Robert Parks, Jeremy Parks and Shawnee Parks all of Oklahoma.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life Memorial service on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 5:00 p.m., at the family home located at 1429 Williston, Pampa, Texas. The family has entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

If donations in memory of Debora are a preference, the family suggests they be made to the Panhandle Breast Health, 301 South Polk Street, Suite 740, Amarillo, Texas 79101.
