Obituary for Clifton Norman Westbrook

Clifton Norman Westbrook, 72 years of age, of Pampa, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, in Pampa. He was born on December 1, 1948, in Shamrock, Texas to KN and Nadine Westbrook.

Clif graduated from Pampa High School in 1967 and then on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1969, he married his lifelong sweetheart, Ada Ledford in Skellytown, Texas. He found solace and relaxation in several activities such as golfing, fishing, playing cards, games, poker, and gardening. Some of his hobbies were even lucrative with his leather crafting and woodworking talents visible at local craft shows.

Known to be quite ornery, another of his favorite pastimes could have been qualified as yelling at his kids – as harsh as it sounds, he felt that being hard on his kids while young, made them strong, productive, and independent adults. One of his greatest joys in life was having grandkids and great-grandkids. Known as Papa to the grands and Papa Clif to the greats, he apparently mellowed out in his older years as they never faced the rath of him yelling at them!

After retiring from the TDCJ after 15 years as a correctional officer at the Jordan Unit, he took up feeding the birds and squirrels in the back yard, and regardless of how many times he had watched an old western TV program, he watched it again and although he was never a sports fanatic, he did enjoy watching the Longhorns play. His flippant and lackadaisical attitude, his little smirky smile and his although hidden but huge heart will be missed by so very many loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mark Westbrook; sister, Ramona DeLancy; Grandson, Dakota Lujan and great granddaughter, Sawyer Thomas.

Those that remain here to remember his stories are his loving wife, Ada Westbrook of Pampa; three children, Christina Thomas and husband Shane of Borger, Shelia Morrison and husband Kevin of Fritch, Shane Westbrook and wife Jessica of Amarillo; four grandsons, Devon Thomas and wife Brianna, Taran Thomas and wife Bethany, Cole Thomas, Austin Lujan and wife Ashley; two granddaughters, Addison and Kinley Westbrook; seven great-grandchildren, Aiden Thomas, Emma Thomas, Aira Thomas, Samantha Thomas, Lorelei Lujan, Bryce Miller, Hendrix Douglas and one on the way; two sisters, Marie Thompson of Pampa, Glenda Walker of Fort Worth and many extended family members.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services are scheduled for 10am, Friday, August 20, 2021, at The Carpenter’s Church with Brother Jim Sinyard officiating with burial immediately following in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Borger. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should you wish to honor Clif with a donation in his memory, the family suggests they be made to The Lujan Boys Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1205, Fritch, TX 79036.
