Carol Ann Deaver, 74 years of age, of Pampa, Texas, peacefully passed from this life into eternal rest while family sat at her side on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at her home in Pampa. She was born on April 11, 1947, to Elijah and Hazel Slate in Borger, Texas.
At an early age, the Slates moved to Pampa allowing Carol to attend Pampa schools. Little did she know she would meet the absolute love of her life and at the age of 15, marry Ray Deaver, who was a mere 17 years old, on November 19, 1962, in Seminole, Texas. The two were inseparable and although they had been married for 48 years at the time of Ray’s passing on February 6, 2011, the two never stopped gazing at each other as though for the first time! They truly adored each other.
Mostly a homemaker, Carol did excel in occupations such as Activity Director for Pampa Nursing Center as well as a self-employed wedding coordinator; however, nothing compared to her “job” as mom and grandma. Her life revolved around her precious family, and nothing gave her more satisfaction or happiness than to host gatherings to assure they were all together as a unit. Always the favorite mom to the kids’ friends, Carol doted on them like her own. She gracefully adorned a warm demeanor topped off with an accepting aura that drew others into her life.
Carol was a true American Patriot who wasn’t afraid to be loud and proud. Actually, she could be very outspoken and even critical of the situations currently happening in our country as it saddened her to see the changes evolving in the world. If you knew Carol, you know she was very opinionated, but only because she was so passionate about things dear to her heart!
True to the era of her upbringing, Carol was one to be cautious of going to town without being presentable to the public, she enjoyed getting dressed up. Carol was fanatic over animals, especially her dogs, Marcy and PeeWee. She even loved and took care of numerous granddogs when needed. Carol was an exceptionally giving person who didn’t expect anything in return. She loved music and dancing (especially with Ray), her dog babies, and friends, but nothing surpassed her family. She was the matriarch and cornerstone, and she will be missed so very dearly.
She was anxiously reunited with her beloved husband, Ray Deaver; her parents and a daughter, Cindy Deaver.
Those who remain to carry on her love and traditions are a daughter, Tawny Morris and companion Shane Kuper of Lefors; son, Shawn Deaver and wife Sarah of Pampa; brother, Elijah Slate, Jr and wife Vickie of Pampa; two sisters, Shirley Parent and husband Richard of Temple, Toni Combs of Miami; four grandchildren, Erika Mauricio, Payton Deaver, Joey Johnson, Paige Lee; 14 great-grandchildren and Lisa Nelson of Corsicana, beloved niece who was more like a daughter, as well as a host of extended family.
Carol will be available to pay respects on Wednesday evening from 4pm until 8pm, Thursday from 9am until 8pm and again Friday from 9am until 8pm at Winegeart Funeral Home. Family will be gathering at 2328 Duncan Street, Pampa.
Celebration of Life Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Highland Baptist Church with Thacker Haynes officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
Should donations in honor of Carol be a preference, the family suggests they be made to Pampa Animal Welfare Society (P.A.W.S.), P.O. Box 2095, Pampa, TX 79066-2095.
