Obituary for Billy Ray Woodward

Billy Ray Woodard, also known as King Priest Billy Ray Woodard, 68 years of age, of Pampa, Texas, entered the gates of Glory in the early morning hours of Thursday, January 13, 2022, while in the Lifecare Hospital of Dallas. He made his entrance into this world on August 9, 1953, to Mr. Woodard and Celeste “Lady” Woodard in Pampa, Texas.

Being a Pampa resident, Billy Ray graduated from Pampa High School and due to his calling in the ministry, had lived in Pecos, Amarillo, and Oklahoma City until his return to Pampa in 2018. Billy Ray was an ordained minister and an extremely talented musician. Blessed with the ability to not only write, study and record music, he could tickle the ivories like no other. Through his gifts, God was able to use Billy Ray as minister, interim minister as well as music minister through the different seasons of his life. Another of Mr. Woodard’s attributes was his knack of writing books. He had written and published two, “The Boaz Factor” as well as “The Greatest Romance Expose” based on King Solomon’s Ancient Diaries. Both are Biblically based and used as premarital and marriage counseling manuals.

Usually donning bright and vibrant African attire, Billy Ray was extremely prideful of his ancestral roots. He loved educating others about history and culture as it was truly dear to his heart. One to be very kind, very humble and most definitely unique, Billy Ray made an impression on and touched countless lives. His passion and wonderful smile will be missed by many.

Upon his arrival into Heaven, he was greeted by his loving wife, Lillian M. Patterson Woodard; his parents; two sisters, Lucy Mae and Lindell Woodard and three brothers, Nathaniel “Poochie” Woodard, Elmer “Happy Jack” Woodard and Bobby E. Woodard.

Billy Ray leaves behind to remember his love and compassion a niece, Jacqueline Evans of Dallas; great niece, Tylecia Smith; great nephew, Donovan Evans; great-great nieces and nephews, Zmei, Remedi and Rhyan; as well as a great host of friends who will forever miss his flare and big personality.
