Obituary for Barbara Longan (Stepp)

Barbara Longan passed away February 23, 2022, at Pampa Regional Medical Center at the age of 88. She was born to Clarence and Mable (Pickle) Stepp on May 31, 1933, in Los Angeles, California. She married Wesley Longan on December 22, 1950, in Morrison, Oklahoma, and they celebrated their seventy-first anniversary in December, 2021.

Barbara and Wes moved from Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Cactus, Texas in 1951, and later, they moved to Pampa, Texas. During their early marriage, she worked as a homemaker and stay-at-home mother. Later, she taught school in Dumas, Texas, then began her work as a manager for Tupperware, where she worked for twenty-five years, traveling across the panhandle of Texas and New Mexico. Following this career, she and her husband, Wes, sold Mountain Man candy in the Texas panhandle area. They later sold Absolutely Nuts, until their retirement.

Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Robert Longan; her daughter, Linda Porter; her grandson, Scott Porter, and both her mother and father. She leaves to mourn her loss, her loving husband, Wes of Pampa; her grandson, Brian Porter and wife, Tammie, of Amarillo; two great-grandchildren, Eric Porter, Ashley Porter both of Amarillo; a great-great grandson, Bradley Porter and numerous family members and friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, from 6:00 pm until 7 pm at Winegeart Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Jerry Lane presiding. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.
