Obituary for April Lanora Annis

April Lanora Annis, 61, of Pampa, Texas, was released from pain and suffering to spend eternity in Heaven on January 8, 2023. She was born in Borger, Texas on April 25, 1961, to William “Bill” Annis and JoAnne Stover Harvey.

Born in Borger, April attended Borger High School and received her GED. A caring personality led her to become a certified nurse’s aide until her health kept her from working in her chosen field. Her loving ways extended to a tremendous love for animals with dogs being her companions, but she never met a stray of any kind she didn’t love.

A lover of the quieter pursuits, reading, puzzles, and board games were her hobbies. April was not one to be heard from except when with a group and then it seemed she could be quite outspoken and conversational and occasionally could be talked into singing karaoke.

April was preceded in death by a son, Jared Wayne Bennett; four sisters, Carla Jo Smith, Deloris Price, Brenda Newman, and Renee Woods; one brother, Billy Jack Annis; a brother-in-law, Dwyane Short; two nieces, Carla Jo Newman, Sabrina Short, and a nephew, Samuel Benjamin Woods, II.

Those left to remember her quiet ways are her two daughters, Tabitha Winkler of Burleson and Valerie McCall of Lake Luzerne, New York; two sisters, Debra Short of Borger, and Rachel Brown of Pampa. She also leaves six grandchildren; a great-grandson and one great-grandbaby on the way as well as a plethora of nieces and nephews.

The family has chosen to honor April’s wishes and celebrate her life privately, with no services being held. They have entrusted the cremation care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home. The family also requests that donations to help cover the cost of her final care, be made to Winegeart Funeral Home or www.gofundme.com and search April Annis in the search bar.
