Obituary for Alta "Faye" Carpenter (Stacy)

Alta “Faye” Carpenter, 78, of Pampa, Texas, joined the heavenly choir early Sunday morning, June 19, 2022, at OU Medical Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was born one of nine children on March 15, 1944, in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to Orvil and Ruby Stacy.

Faye was raised in Hereford and attended Hereford schools before moving to various places and living her life, eventually leading her to Pampa. Following retirement as a CNA, Faye went back to work at hotels as housekeeper and front desk clerk and even running a laundromat.

For the most part, Faye was relatively quiet and reserved…until she heard the intro to her favorite tunes, then she was in her element! Her greatest passions evolved around music. Nothing filled her soul more than to strum her guitar, sing and dance. Producing two of her own CD’s was a huge accomplishment, giving her bragging rights, and a sense of pride that remained with her.

Not one for taking life too seriously, she always wore a big smile followed by a light-hearted laugh that was contagious. Faye’s love of music and her ability to spread laughter will be missed by those who loved her.

She was greeted into Heaven by her parents; late husbands and fathers to her six children, Johnnie Estep, Jr and Thomas Leal; sister, Gelene; brothers, Kenneth, Gene, Homer and a granddaughter, Ahava Miears.

Faye is survived by her three sons, Danny Estep, Sr of Pampa, Randy Estep of Fort Smith, AR, Thomas Leal and wife Shina of Bovina; three daughters, Kathy Reed and husband Roy of Pampa, Debbie Estep of Pampa, Amanda Leal and companion Chris Delacruz of Amarillo; four siblings, Ralph Stacy, Charles “Red” Stacy, Linda Wood, Virginia Stacy; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a vast number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life Graveside services will be held at 10am, Thursday, June 23, 2022, in the Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum with Brother Jim Sinyard officiating. The family has entrusted the care of their loved one to Winegeart Funeral Home.

Should memorials be a preference, the family suggests donations be made to The Carpenter’s Church, 639 Barnes Street, Pampa, TX 79065 in honor of Faye.
